We are pleased to announce the upcoming EU CVT Webinar on planning and preparation for large scale events. The webinar will take place on Tuesday, 30 January 2024, 15h00 – 17h00 (Brussels time – CET). It will be an opportunity to discuss how to incorporate a victim perspective in the planning and organisation of large scale events.

Across European countries, large scale events, including expos, sports events and festivals, take place each year. Any participant to such event may fall victim of a crime. A crucial part of event planning is therefore the pre-planning for victim management in case of incidents.

During the webinar, we will reflect on how to organise large scale events from a safety and security perspective. We will in particular discuss how to incorporate a victim lens into event planning. At the end of the webinar, we will have a discussion on pre-planning for upcoming large scale events in Europe, including 2024 Paris Olympics. We will also reflect on what the Centre can do to support EU Member States and frontline organisations in this regard.

The event will be moderated by Mr Levent Altan, Victim Support Europe, and Ms Aleksandra Ivankovic, EU CVT Project Director.

Confirmed speakers:

  • Prof. Dr. Stacey Hall, National Center for Spectator Sports Safety and Security and Professor at University of Southern Mississippi
  • Ms Carla Ferreira, Senior Adviser of the Board of APAV for the subjects of sexual violence, homicide and terrorism
  • Ms Danielle Bottineau, Victim Management Coordinator, Toronto Police Service
  • Dr. Michael McDonagh, Formula 1 Strategic Global Security Adviser

The webinar will be organised in an interactive, solution-oriented manner. The audience will be invited to actively contribute and share their views/experience.
